INSTRUCTIONS
TASK 2
Typographic Exploration & Communications.
Research:
For research I used some symbol image I found online to add into my headline and shapes of the text boxes.

Fig 1.2 Unity symbol. |
- For the first layout emphasis was on the word 'unite' using the symbol (fig 1.2) as the background for 'u' and 'n'.
- For the second layout emphasis was on the word 'visualize' using the symbol (fig 1.1) around 'visualize'.
- For the third layout emphasis was on the words 'a better world' using the symbol (fig 1.3) around the words 'a better world'.
Digitalization:
In week 7 I digitalized the 3 layout sketches.

Final Editorial Spread:
I chose the second spread for my final (Fig 2.2) because I liked the heading graphic, the use of globe(Fig 1.3), how quite symmetrical it was, how it balanced well with the text and it was overall very easy on the eyes.

FEEDBACK
Week 6: Improve first sketch, start e portfolio and start digitalization.
Week 7: .In week 7 we had an online replacement glass and I was told to make some adjustments to my designs, start in In design and Update e portfolio.
REFLECTION
Experience
Overall this task was pretty short and simple all my challenges were solved with a simple search online or asking my tutor and peers. I liked task 2 over task 1 a bit more because it was a lighter task that i could balance with my other modules easier and I had a week off (ILW) to work on the final parts.
Observation
I observed my seniors work to a get better idea on what my lecturer and tutors expect in both the e portfolio and my work itself.
Findings
I found out from my further reading I used single column grids for the text and improvisational structures for my headings. I also believe I found out more is less and I made 3 very simplistic designs using my research.
FURTHER READING
Typographic Design: Forms and Communication
I have selected the book 'Typographic Design: Forms and Communication' by Rob Carter, Philip B. Meggs, Ben Day, Sandra Maxa and Mark Sanders to read for my further reading.

For this task the chapter that related the most to it was 'Chapter 4: The Typography Grid'.
The Typographic Grid is the skeleton framework used by designers to organize data on a page/spread.
In this chapter the main points covered where:
- Background.
- Structure and space.
- Proportion.
- The square.
- Single column grids.
- Multicolumn grids.
- Modular grids.
- Improvisational structures.
