WEEK 1

Exercise 1 (Mints):

For the mints video the clips were already in order so it was a matter of dragging and dropping each clip in the already given order than exporting the final sequence.

Exercise 2 (Doritos):


For the Doritos video the clips were not in order so it was a matter of watching the clips and deciding the order before dragging and dropping each clip in the decided order than exporting the final sequence.

Reflection of asynchronous class material:
In this weeks reading we were explained many types of shots for instance wide shot, full shot, medium shot, closeup and etc.. We also learned the sizes of each shot, the uses and what message they can convey.
To add onto camera shots we also learned framing such as single shot, two shot, over the shoulder shot, point of view shot and etc...We also learned the positioning of each shot, the uses and what message they can convey.
Lastly we learned about camera angles for example eyelevel shot, low angle shot, high angle shot, dutch angle shot and etc.. .We also learned the perspective/angle of each shot, the uses and what message they can convey.

WEEK 2

Exercise 1

In week 2 tutorial we were given a task to record 8 different shots.


Using these shots we had to put all the videos together and learn how to put captions in Premier Pro.


Exercise 2

Based off the short film 'Lalin' I edited the given clips together in Premier Pro using the original video and tutorial video as reference

I learned how to trim clips, use sound effects and add overlays in Premier Pro.


Both the exported files for Exercise 1 and 2 have been posted in the Google Drive.


Based on Lalin, 
1. Which part is act 1, act 2, act 3 respectively? 
Act 1: the introduction to Lalin, she is a girl from Thailand who moved to Japan to study and have a fresh start because she cannot stand her face and is always wearing a mask and editing it in pictures.
Act 2 : in Japan she is getting positive attention online from her edited photos. Over time she is wanting of  a companion than meets a boy that goes by Astronaut Nut online. They text and call everyday when he asks her about the mask she just lies and says allergies. Overtime they decide to meet at a cafe but she gets scared and decides to stay in the washroom and tell him to leave. She opens his file sees his drawings and story. She realizes they met at a Christmas party and regrets telling him to leave. She runs to the train station trying to find him but she is too late.
Act 3:She runs to the train station trying to find him but she is too late. Then she learns to accept who she is. "It's time to face the real world"
2. What is the inciting incident in the movie?
Being insecure about her face.

3. What is the midpoint scene in the movie?
 Meeting Astronaut Nut online.

4. What is the Climax scene in the movie?
Being about to meet him bailing out then sees his files realizing who he is.

5.What is the theme of the movie?
 It is actually a dermatologist advertisement about overcoming insecurity/fear and a love story.
Reflection of asynchronous class material:
The 3 act structure is a structure that helps divide the story into 3 main segments. It consists of Act-1( the setup) involves introducing the characters, an 'inciting incident' and kickstart to the story. Act-2 ( confrontation) middle of the story, raising the stakes, keeping the audience watching and main chunk of story. Act-3 (resolution) The end that bring a happy or sad resolution.
The breakdown of the 3 act structure consists of the hook, inciting event, first plot point, first pinch point, mid point, second pinch point, third plot point, climax and resolustion.

WEEK 3
Exercise 1 Audio Dubbing.
Spreadsheet:

This week in Premiere Pro we had to do a sound dubbing exercise, in class in groups we created a spreadsheet to make the process easier and at home I recorded my own voice and found sound effects online exported into the sequence adjusted the semi tones in my voice and volumes off all the sound effects.
Reflection of asynchronous class material:
A storyboard is a visual representation of a film sequence and breaks down action into individual panels. There are 2 kinds of storyboards traditional being pencil drawn with arrows showing camera movement and detailed information and thumbnail being simpler with no witting.

WEEK 4

This week I reorganized the dialogue and sound effects so that each character had a time line and sound effects had 2. I also added, edited and changed some sound effects.

Reflection of asynchronous class material:
The stages of production includes 5 stages. Stage 1 is the development stage this includes the idea to begin making the movie, financing, the package and its overseen by the producer. Stage 2 is the pre production this includes getting the team together, budgeting, pre-visualizing and all preparations. Stage 3 is production this is capturing the footage. Stage 4 is  post production this is all the work after the footage is captured including picture editing, sound editing and additional visuals. The final stage, stage 5 is distribution this is marketing and securing the distribution.
